SPEEDWAY HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS

The cross country teams kicked off their 2023 season Saturday morning at the Jeremy Wright Memorial Invitational in Shelbyville. Both the boys and girls squads scored top ten finishes as a team (8th for girls, 10th for boys) in an impressive field with runners representing over 30 schools. Leading the way for the ladies was Morgan Smith who finished in 3rd place with a time of 21:52 & Luke Chastain led the way for the boys team with a 15th place finish in a time of 18:25. Both teams will be back in action next Saturday at the Marion County Championships hosted by Brebeuf Jesuit.
