This week, we celebrate Will Kattman for his exceptional performance in the classroom and in three sports: soccer, swimming, and golf. Will is a four year athlete in all three of his sports, and he has won MVP and MIP in swimming. Will always strives to do his best whether he is on the field or in the pool. Will has earned both the MVP and Most Improved Award in swimming. “Will continuously worked hard and brought a great energy to our team,” said varsity soccer coach Dean Heaviland. Varsity swimming coach Sarah Reuter echoed Heaviland’s observations. “Will works hard and knows what goals he wants to achieve during his time in the pool,” noted Reuter. As a long-time member of the golf activities at Speedway, coach Geoff Mahan is excited. "Will is looking to contribute more to the varsity this season, as he battles for a regular spot in the lineup," said Mahan. "Will has been a consistent member of the Speedway golf program since starting his career at Wheeler Elementary on their elementary competition team. Will's game has improved greatly over his four years on the high school squad. He is coming off his first varsity golf letter and hopes to make a positive impact this year. Will lives with his parents Angie Kattmann and OW Kattmann. along with his sister Ellen who is an 8th grader. This fall, Will indicated that he plans to attend either Purdue or Rose-Hulman for engineering. He also wants to continue his swimming career into college. Congratulations Will!
