Correy Midgett is a definition of a true leader at Speedway.. He is a two sport senior here at Speedway, leading the Sparkplugs on the football field and on the wrestling mat. When asked in the fall what his favorite memory at Speedway High School would be, Correy referenced the Friday night under the lights Ritter rivalry. “Scoring my pick 6 against Ritter… ,” was unforgettable. Correy also might add his performance this month's Hoosier Legends Conference wrestling meet. Correy took first place in the 215 pound weight class. Correy’s leadership is valuable and appreciated. “Correy has always been a talented football player, but stood out most this season is his personal growth,” said varsity football coach Shane Clampitt. “Naturally quiet and thoughtful, he has stepped out of his comfort zone to become a vocal leader. While his performances on the field have been impressive, his leadership has been even more meaningful.” “Correy has wrestled for Speedway since he was in junior high, and it has been a pleasure to watch him grow up over the years,” said varsity wrestling coach Nick Paden. “His desire to do his best always sticks out. He never complains, always stays positive and has a big smile, and he is a great teammate.” Correy is the son of Angela and David Roberts while having an older sister Gabby, and another younger brother and sister, Rayiona and Ramon. One adult that has been a role model to Correy would be his grandma, “She has been with me my whole life,” reflected Correy. Correy’s plan as of this fall was not to go to college but instead go to trade school to become an electrician! Speedway is so proud of Correy and excited to see what positive impacts he will make in the future! Speedway senior athletic profiles are created by the Speedway Student Media Team of Morgan Smith, Jonathan Berry, Hayli Clampitt, and Colten Thompson.
