Today, we celebrate Dawson Ott for all of his amazing athletic accomplishments as a Speedway Sparkplug! He is a four-year athlete for football and he also participated in track for one season. Dawson is committed to play football in college at the University of Saint Francis. This season, he was recognized as the team’s Defensive MVP and he also earned All- County Honorable Mention honors in highly competitive Marion County. As a junior, Dawson had a total of 75 tackles and as a senior, Dawson topped that with 77 tackles. The anchor of Speedway’s defense, Dawson was a great role model of performance and effort for Speedway football. “Through relentless effort in the weight room and on the field, Dawson transformed himself into a dominant force,” said varsity football coach Shane Clampitt. “His dedication over the past two years has made him an all-conference talent and one of the most impactful players on both sides of the ball. His future at the next level looks bright.” Dawson is the son of Ron and Barbara Ott. Senior athletic profiles are published by the Speedway Student Media Team of Morgan Smith, Jonathan Berry, Hayli Clampitt, and Colten Thompson.
