SPEEDWAY HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS

Today we are celebrating senior Andrew Phillips and his achievements as a Sparkplug! He is a four-year member of the football program and he also did some wrestling and golf during his time here. Andrew plans on either going to IU Bloomington or entering the work force. “Andrew was a pleasure to coach over the last four seasons,” said varsity football head coach Shane Clampitt. “He is a hard worker and a great teammate who always put the team first. I was extremely proud of the way he battled back from injury, returned to the field, and continued to compete at a high level.” A super hard worker, Andrew shines in everything he does. His Dad is his biggest role model. “He’s always been by my side and supported me through my ups and downs,” said Andrew. His favorite teacher Mrs. Carlson has also been a big role model towards him. “... Always been helpful and kind and pushed us harder than we thought we could go,” noted Andrew.
