It’s Senior Night for the varsity boys basketball team and today we are celebrating one of the members of the varsity boys basketball program Owen Seaver! Owen is a four year member of both the soccer and basketball programs. He has been very dedicated to both teams and when asked about a good reason for playing sports, Owen said, “ … (it’s) positive for your health and mind.” Both varsity soccer coach Dean Heaviland and varsity basketball coach Bob Wonnell heaped high praise on Owen’s efforts. “He’s always willing to help where he can, and is willing to take on any role to make the team better,” said Heaviland.” “Owen was another four year member of our program and he was one of the best teammates in the program.” This winter, varsity basketball coach Bob Wonnell has been very encouraged and excited about Owen’s contributions to the team’s success. The boys team has already won ten games this fall and the team is looking forward to next month’s Sectional tournament, in part due to contributions from their seniors like Owen. “Owen has shown up every day with a great attitude, eager to learn and determined to get better,” said Wonnell. “Owen has improved as much or more than any player in our program from this summer through the end of our season. He is a very athletic, intelligent & hard-working kid that happens to be 6'6" tall.” “Those habits have allowed him to have an awesome senior year and earn a spot as a Varsity starter for our team,” noted Wonnell. “Those same work habits will serve him well in whatever career path he chooses.” Owen has always been a very hard worker both on the field/court and in the classroom. He also has two siblings that attend the high school, Molly and Kellan. Owen’s work ethic is heavily influenced by his father. “My dad shows up every day and puts a smile on his face no matter how much he doesn't want to and he tries his best.” What a great career Owen, we can’t wait to see what you do next!
