SPEEDWAY HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS

Today, we are honoring Victor Arias, a senior student-athlete representing the boys soccer program. Victor is one of nine seniors on a Speedway team that is currently ranked #2 in Class 2A. “It’s been great having Victor as a part of our team this season,” said head coach Dean Heaviland. "Victor is a quiet leader, who is always working hard, supporting his teammates and doing anything he can to help the team.” There are lots of positive reasons why Victor enjoys playing soccer at Speedway. “It’s fun and we have good coaches who help us improve,” said Arias. Victor would like to attend Indiana State to become an automotive engineer or study anything related to mechanics. He credits his father as big influence in his life. “He showed me when you are working or doing something, you have to do at your fullest potential,” said Victor. That work ethic is also evident on the soccer pitch. “Victor pushes his teammates to help them improve and be the best that they can be,” noted Heaviland. “This leads to the overall success of the team.” Victor’s family includes his father Jose, his mother Luz , a sister Mia, another sister Nilsa (a freshman at Speedway) and a brother Daniel (a second grader at Wheeler).
