Celebrating Rylan Stevens

Today, we celebrate four year student-athlete Rylan Stevens. Rylan has wrestled for the past four years, where he has displayed much growth and earned many accomplishments. “Rylan's nickname that I have given him is the "redheaded tornado," and that accurately describes how he wrestles!” exclaimed varsity wrestling coach Nick Paden. “He gives his all in every single practice and match, which is why he was a Marion County placer in just his second year wrestling. Rylan has come back to win several matches where he was losing, which just goes to show his incredible heart and determination.” Rylan's best memory at Speedway would be one of his sectional competitions. “Even though I was sick and lost, I realized that pain and being able to feel it,” recalled Rylan. “It's what makes the good feelings great.” Government teacher David Todd has made the biggest impact on Rylan. “His class has been the most interesting class besides psychology,” noted Rylan. “He's also been the funniest and my favorite because of the hiking club.” Rylan plans on going to college at a 2 or 4 year school to study psychology and sociology. “I want to help people who feel lost and struggle with mental health,” said Rylan. We are all so proud of Rylan and excited to see what he accomplishes in the future! Senior athletic profiles are created by the Student Media Sports Team of Morgan Smith, Jonathan Berry, Hayli Clampitt, and Colten Thompson.
