SPEEDWAY HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS

This week we are celebrating senior John Thomas for his time spent playing soccer and running track! He has demonstrated many times that he is a great teammate and a hard worker. “An amazing athletic talent, John brings energy and enthusiasm to each and every practice and game,” said varsity soccer coach Dean Heaviland. “He's a pleasure to have on the team and we're expecting great things from him in the future.” As a junior, John displayed his speed talents by racing his way to the IHSAA State Finals meet. He broke the school record in the 100 last year and after an off season of intense workouts, John can’t wait to see what he can do with his talents this year on the track! “I get to do something I love,” said John, the son of Jean Thomas and Widline Florvil. One adult that John would like to recognize for being an influence in his life is his mom. “My mother is the only person you can trust on this earth, said John. Upon graduation, John hopes to study engineering while also continuing to play soccer and run track. Congratulations John! We can’t wait to see what your future has in store!
