Zariah Watson spent the fall playing soccer and she will run track and field this spring. Today, we are celebrating Zariah as a great senior student-athlete at Speedway. One of Zariah’s favorite memories from her time at Speedway was attending the boys games during her freshman and sophomore years. As a soccer player at Speedway, Zariah is also a must watch performer. “Zariah was so fun to watch on the field,” said outgoing girls soccer coach Stacie Burke. “She was extremely fast and it was awesome to watch her blow by the other teams’ defense. She always put forth her best effort on the field.” “I plan to play soccer recreationally for the rest of my life,” said Zariah. “I have to find a rec swim team to join in college too.” Earlier in her Speedway career, Zariah received the Most Improved Award for swimming. “Playing soccer has taught me discipline and resilience,” noted Zariah. Those attributes also apply beyond the athletic field. The daughter of Jeniesha Pfeifer and Romell Watson, Zariah noted that her mother has been “the best influence on my life.” “She’s always been the person to be the most honest to me, and has guided me into the right direction,” reflected Zariah. “My mom is incredibly bubbly, so much so that it’s infectious.” Zariah has two siblings: Zoey (grade 11) and Romell Watson Jr. ( a student at Wheeler). After graduation, Zariah plans to attend Tennessee State University to study Aerospace Technology and Political Science. Senior athletic profiles are published by the Student Media Sports Team of Morgan Smith, Jonathan Berry, Hayli Clampitt, and Colten Thompson.
