Today, we are celebrating Tyson Worman for his amazing achievements at Speedway! Tyson has fought through adversity and has worked super hard to stay strong every single day! But he couldn’t do it all alone. With the help of his family and his friends, the sky is the limit for Tyson. His best friend Colten Thompson “has always been there for me and have been best friends since we were little,” said Tyson. Growing up, Tyson has been a tennis player, a wrestler and played baseball. This year, he was a manager for the boys basketball team. Tyson plans to attend a 2 or 4 year college. He is a hard worker in the classroom and pushes the people around him to continue to work hard just like he does. His favorite class and teacher is Math with Mr. Passwater. “He’s a fun teacher and knows when it’s time to focus in class,” said Tyson. “He pushes me every day for my best.” Tyson has a medical condition called Friedreich's Ataxia, but it’s never stopped him. His movement has pushed others and his work is always noticed. Earlier this year, Tyson’s efforts were rewarded with the prestigious Abe Lincoln Scholarship, earning him a $16,000 scholarship. The Abe Lincoln scholarship program recognizes students who have overcome unimaginable hardships and provides financial aid to assist them in continuing their goals. Kiwanis aims to guide young people by providing a community that cares about, recognizes, and encourages them. Everyone at Speedway is behind Tyson and pushing for the cure for FA. We are super excited to watch Tyson’s journey and see the growth he works for! The profiles of our senior student-athletes are created by the Student Media Sports Team.
