Today, we are honoring Blessin Bambo, a senior student-athlete at Speedway High School who represents the football and track programs. Blessin and the football Sparkplugs are 2-2 overall and 1-2 in ICC play entering Friday’s ICC rematch at Monrovia. “Blessin has been a great teammate the last three years and played a large role in our success last season,” noted varsity football coach Shane Clampitt. Voted as the program’s Most Improved Player last season, Bambo is hoping to continue his improvement while helping the Sparkplugs get a little better each day on his way to pursuing a college football opportunity. “I plan on playing college football (but I) just don’t know where yet,” said Bambo. “I want to go to college (to study) food science.” Who has been the biggest influence in Blessin’s life? His mom. “She persevered every day and never complained that I heard of,” said Bambo. “She was my superwoman that did everything at the peak level.” Blessin is the son of Chrissy Brazelton and Ben Bambo. He has a brother named Bishop that attends Indiana University.
