Today, we are celebrating Abigail Bowman, a senior student-athlete who represents Speedway in cheerleading and track. Being active at Speedway is important to Abby. “(I have) developed a stronger mindset being involved in sports,” said Abby. “I have met new people and created new bonds that I wouldn’t have if I didn’t participate.” Family is important to Abby and she is especially fond of the time spent with her grandmother. “My grandma has been by my side throughout my entire life,” said Bowman. “She is someone that I have always looked up to… and she has always been there for me during the hard and good times of my life. I’ve learned a lot from her.” Abby has participated in cheerleading and gymnastics she was just three years old and Abby remembers her biggest cheerleader. “(Mom) was my biggest cheerleader when I was little and always wanted me to do big things with cheer,” reflected Abby. “She passed away last year and to continue with what she always wanted me to do, I continued my path with school cheer.” Abby is interested in cosmetology and currently is enrolled mornings at Area 31 where she is learning more about the field. Abby is the daughter of Michael Bowman and the late Stephanie McNutt. She has a step-mom (Paige Davis) and a brother (Mason).
