Today, we celebrate Claelle Condestin, a senior student-athlete representing the cross country program at Speedway. The daughter of Camille Chery is committed to her team and her academics as evidenced by her All-ICC Academic Team award earned last year. “Cross Country is a very mental sport and it is 90% about your mind,” said Condestin. “By running cross country, you become so mentally endurant and that has helped me with so many of my personal life issues.” Prior to the team’s meet last weekend, Claelle was “... one of just three runners on the team to improve their time each race this season,” noted head coach Brian Hunteman. “She is the only senior to do this.” Running is important to Claelle and so is her aunt Stephanie Chery. “She is my biggest supporter and is always rooting for me,” said Condestin. “She is always just a very hard worker and a fearless woman that I aspire to be like one day.” “My auntie is a therapist and social worker,” noted Condestin. “She helps dozens of families every day and is always willing to help others. That is the type of woman I aspire to be like one day.” Claelle’s commitment and work ethic extends to her dreams for the future as Claelle would like to attend IUPUI to study nursing. “After high school, I plan on getting my BSN, “said Condestin. “Later on, I want to go back to school to further my career and become a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist).
