Presenting Christian Cooke

Today we celebrate Christian Cooke, a senior student-athlete representing the football and track and field programs at Speedway. As a primetime performer for each team, Christian observes some very important differences that are ingredients to success for each program. “Football is a team sport where all eleven guys have to be in sync to succeed,” observed Cooke. “It helps your team building skills, and gives you accountability to always be there, even if you have a big or small role.” “For track and field, it’s all about beating the clock in every race,” noted Cooke. “You have to want to do better than you did the meet before, and although you want to win, it’s just about getting yourself faster every race.” Speedway varsity football coach Shane Clampitt is thrilled with Christian’s efforts during his four years at Speedway. “Christian is one of the most consistent players that we have had,” said Clampitt. “He is always working hard and doing everything to help the team. He has been a big part of our success the last three years and we look forward to seeing him play in college.” Christian’s current plan is to attend Manchester University to study Health Science and Nursing while also continuing his football and track careers. That determination wouldn’t be possible without the support of Christian’s mother (Geneisha Berry) “She’s my biggest supporter and she’s always there for me,” said Cooke. “She’s come a long way to give me and my siblings (Deja Weeden, Nikolas Cooke) a good life and I wouldn’t trade her for anything.”
