Today we are celebrating Cooper Crausare, a senior member of the Sparkplug football program. It is Cooper’s first year playing football and varsity coach Shane Clampitt appreciates the addition to the program. “He has been a great teammate,” said Clampitt. “He has been a joy to coach and has brought a lot of hard work and positive energy to the team.” So why decide to play football as a senior for the first time? For Cooper, football offers “ … a great way to bond with friends, face adversity, and work together with a common goal. I can also stay in shape, and I love the great locker room tunes.” The son of Greg and Lauren Crausare, Cooper also has a brother (Hayden). Cooper is also a two year member of the Student Media team at Speedway where he has worked as a photographer and sports reporter. A talented, creative young man, Cooper plans on attending Purdue University but he is unsure of what he will study next fall. One thing he is sure of: that his Mom plays a major role in Cooper’s life. “She is the hardest worker I know and she’s my best friend,” said Crausare. The varsity football Sparkplugs play at Lutheran tomorrow night and then Cooper and his senior teammates will be honored on Senior Night October 13th when the Sparkplugs host ICC rival Triton Central.
