Today we celebrate Camden Outlaw, a multi-sport student athlete at Speedway. And based on his performance within the athletic department over the years, one could say he contributes in an MVP type of way. “Can’t say enough about Camden Outlaw and his dedication, hard work, and selfless service as manager of the basketball program,” beamed varsity boys basketball coach Chuck Bennett. “Camden embodies our three basic principles in the program of being a good person, being a good student, and the being good at sports.” As a member of the boys tennis team since his sophomore year, Camden has earned a pair of MVP honors playing doubles for the Sparkplugs. “He has also earned All-Conference honors for the 2023 fall season and he has a very successful record in the Speedway Invite as well,” noted tennis coach Whitney Baker. “Camden earned first place honors with his doubles partner (Corbin Woodlock) for the 2023 fall season.” Camden earned All-ICC honors for the boys golf team last spring, finishing in the top ten at the highly competitive ICC meet. With all but one of their players returning this spring, coupled with some very talented incoming freshmen, Camden will play an integral role for the Sparkplug golfers as they strive for not only an ICC title but the chance to advance beyond the sectional in state tournament play. The son of Allan Outlaw and Jennifer Hochstedler, Camden has an older brother Trevor. Camden plans on attending IU-Bloomington in the fall. “Camden will be greatly missed next year with his witty personality, drive, and love of sports,” noted Baker.
