Today we celebrate Aubrey Proctor, a long-time cheerleader supporting the Speedway student-athletes. In addition to Aubrey’s year-round commitment to cheer, she also helps the baseball team in the spring as a manager. “Aubrey has cheered for the Speedway Sparkplugs since she was in junior high,” said coach Amber Holbrook. “She is an amazing cheerleader and an excellent flyer. She is always willing to try new stunts and (she) graciously teachers her skills to others.” Recognized as an All-American cheerleader at the UCA camp, Aubrey may choose to continue her acrobatic skills dependent on her college choice. Earlier this fall, Aubrey was deciding between Trine University and Ball State and she desires to be a secondary math education major. “Aubrey volunteered to be a cheer coach for Speedway Junior Football and Cheer,” said Holbrook. “She coached the kindergarten through 2nd grade squad. She is also in charge of the pre-kindergarten and kindergarten group for our cheer clinics and always excels with that age group.” The daughter of Chris and Kris Proctor, Aubrey has an older sister Sarah who was a graduate of the Speedway Class of 2013. Aubrey’s credits cheerleading as an opportunity to “make a lot of friends” and to become involved more at school. She also respects greatly the support from her mother. “My mom pushes me to be my best,” said Aubrey. “She has always stood by my side in my struggles and my successes.” “She has always been my biggest cheerleader and I wouldn’t be who I am today without her.”
