Today, we celebrate Simon Reese, a senior member of the boys soccer program the past four years. As a freshman, Simon helped the team earn a win in the County tournament. By the time he graduated, Simon was a part of a four-peat conference championship pedigree. “He (Simon) was a great teammate,” said head coach Dean Heaviland. “One of my favorite qualities that he has is how good of a brother he is. I loved getting to see him support and teach his younger brother Joey who joined the team as a freshman this past year.” That behavior isn’t a surprise if you know why Simon enjoyed his soccer experiences. “The people on your team are you family,” said Reese. “It is an amazing way of finding friends.” And you might be surprised as well by the adult that Simon feels has heavily influenced his life. “Bob Ross is the most positive and wholesome guy ever,” said Reese. “He has influenced me to be happy and positive.” The son of Matthew and Angela Reese would like to attend Vincennes University to study Precision Machining. Simon is currently in his second year at Area 31 working in that same field each morning and according to Simon, “it is awesome!” “Simon was able to overcome adversity and be an integral part of our team again this year,” noted Heaviland. “He will definitely be missed, not only for his play on the field but also for his leadership.”
