Imagine that your senior year at a school is your first year at that school. For some students, this might be a nightmare. For Cam Reich, our senior student-athlete that we are celebrating today, it was completely the opposite. “I transferred here after being at Brownsburg my whole life,” said Reich. “This was my first year ever playing football and I’ve played AAU basketball my whole life. Speedway has become my new home and I thank everyone in the town for welcoming me.” “Cam did a great job of playing tight end and linebacker for us and had a great senior season,” said varsity football coach Shane Clampitt. “Cam’s smile and endless energy was something I always looked forward to at practice.” “Cam has been a good addition to our program,” said varsity basketball coach Chuck Bennett. “It has been exciting to watch him mesh with his teammates. From playing football in the fall, to eating lunch with his ‘lunch buddies’ to fitting in with coaching our third and fourth graders, and finally helping out Mr. Scheck with our Basketball Buddy program, Cam has fit into being a good person, good student, and good player.” “Being a new student at Speedway, I wanted to meet new people and become a part of a team,” said Reich. “The coaching staff at SHS is amazing, and they truly want the best for each individual kid,” Cam is very appreciative of the guidance he has received from his father over the years. “My dad is the most influential person in my life,” said Reich. “He pushes me to be the best person, player, and human I can be. He always does what’s best for me and puts me in positions to succeed.” “I’m excited to see how Cam closes out the season with our team which includes getting double digit wins, and competing for the 13th boys sectional title in school history,” said Bennett. “We’ll look forward to him continuing to perform on and off the court.” Cam is the son of Nick Reich and Becky Reich and he has one brother (Cayden).
