Today, we are celebrating Wyatt Ridge, a senior student-athlete at Speedway who participated on the boys soccer team. Wyatt has played soccer as part of the Speedway Youth Soccer program for over 14 years and looks forward to continue his participation in the Rec program this spring. He attributes his love for soccer to Jason Hill. “Jason taught me how to play soccer,” recalled Wyatt. “He is always there to talk about soccer, and I have a lot of respect for him taking time out of his day for years just to teach me how to kick a soccer ball.” “Wyatt is a great kid who probably never even realized how good he actually was at soccer,” said boys soccer coach Dean Heaviland. “Wyatt was able to overcome adversity and injuries to continue his career as a senior and we were so happy to have him as a part of our team.” The son of Andi and Lincoln Ridge, Wyatt also has a brother Seth who is a freshman at SHS. And while he’s anxious to graduate from high school, Wyatt has learned a lot from his athletic experiences. “I have met some of my best friends through those programs, the people I have played soccer with for years, and it’s just another way to push yourself every day.”
