Today we celebrate Shelby Rendes, a four-year member of the soccer and track teams at Speedway. During her athletic career at Speedway, she’s been a vital contributor to a soccer team that has collected multiple ICC titles while posting a 46-13-5 record. Rendes was a two-time winner of the soccer team’s MVP award while also earning All-ICC honors twice and being named to the All-County team as a junior. In addition, Rendes won the track team’s Most Improved Award for her freshman and sophomore seasons. “Soccer has made me into the person I am today,” said Rendes. “I started playing at a young age and it has taught me commitment, and it has showed me how to stay determined and work hard.” Rendes has played club soccer for the Zionsville Youth Soccer Association where she played on a state championship team in 2022. Shelby is considering playing college soccer or club soccer upon graduating from Speedway. While she is undecided about where she will attend college, she plans on studying nursing. And she is appreciative of the support she has received from her parents throughout her life. “I want to recognize my parents for continuously giving me love and … helping me reach my goals,” said Rednes. “Without them, I would not be who I am today. They have always been my biggest fans in everything I do and I can’t thank them enough.” Shelby is the daughter of Frank and Alison Rendes. She has two sisters: Sydney (SHS ‘21) and Caitlyn (SHS ‘27).
