SPEEDWAY HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS

Senior Matt Craig is a three sport athlete at Speedway and he has proven to be the consummate great teammate in all three sports. His coaches and teammates are more than appreciative of Matt’s contributions to Speedway Athletics. “Matt has done a great job of stepping into a large varsity role for the basketball team,” said boys basketball head coach Chuck Bennett. “His athleticism is invaluable as he is one of our leading rebounders. He is a very good senior leader for us and we are excited to attack the second half of the season and the sectional tournament.” Matt earned Most Valuable Field Thrower honors for the boys track team during his Speedway career and he also challenged himself on the tennis court at Speedway. “On the court his defense was tenacious, and he provided good depth to the Varsity team at 3 singles,” noted first year head tennis coach Rob Davies. “Off the court, Matt provided focused senior leadership and was a pleasure to work with.” So why does Matt enjoy keeping himself busy with athletics after school? It’s a simple message that is important to many of our student-athletes. Matt likes “.... having fun and getting to play with my friends.” Matt is the son of Eric and Hannah Craig. His sister Hannah is a 2022 graduate of Speedway.
