SPEEDWAY HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS

Everyone has a specific reason why they do the things they do. When it comes to participating in high school sports, McKenzie Baird keeps it simple. “Sports are fun,” notes McKenzie. “And you get to surround yourself with people who have the same interests as you.” McKenzie finished her senior season in volleyball earlier this year and she is looking forward to participating in track this spring. And while she’s not thinking about playing any sports in college, she does have an idea where she wants to go to school in the fall, “I want to go to IU Bloomington,” said McKenzie. “I want to major in biology and earn a BS degree.” Behind every high school student is a family structure that is very supportive and that’s no exception for McKenzie. “My dad has influenced me on my mentality but my mom has influenced me on being a hard worker and those two things together make me who I am today.” McKenzie is the daughter of Tiffany Collins and Benjamin Baird.
